Bollywood has given us many celebrities who were able to rule at the box office and produce several movies that turned out to be inspiring and huge hits, creating a long lasting impression in the minds of the fan followers. One such actor is Ayushmann Khurranna who is considered to be multi-talented. It was in 14th September 1984 that he was born in Chandigarh and is a popular anchor, singer and actor, as well as the recipient of major two Filmfare Awards. His debut film was a romantic comedy by Shoojit Sircar in 2012 named Vicky Donor. This movie moved around the topic of donating sperm in India. It also earned the Best Male Debut Filmfare Award. His other romantic comedy movies like the 2015 based Dum Laga Ke Haisha and in 2017 ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ as well as the comedy drama named ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhaan’ in 2017 is what made him rise to prominence in the industry. These movies did receive commercial and critical success. He also has hosted the prestigious 63rd Filmfare Awards with Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan. His upcoming movies are a thriller by Sriram Raghavan named ‘Shoot the Piano Player’ and ‘Badhaai Ho,’ a romantic comedy.
His early life & education
He was born to P. Khurrana and Poonam and received his education at St. John’s High School & DAV College at Chandigarh. Unlike other Bollywood celebrities, he does have strong academic background with major in English Literature and masters in Mass Communication from Communication Studies School, Punjab University.
For five years, he participated seriously in theatre and is also regarded to be the DAV College’s founding member of ‘Manchtantra’ and ‘Aaghaaz’, Chandigarh based active theatre groups. He also conceptualized as well as acted in the street plays, won several prizes in the national college festivals like the OASIS, Mood Indigo & St. Bedes Simla. For acting in Ashwatthama of Dharamvir Bharati, he receives the best actor award. Rajeev Masand. Andha Yug hosted actors 2017 roundtable saw him as a special invitee.
It was on TV that he got first noticed at a small age of 17 at a reality show hosted on Channel V, 2002 PopStars. In this show, he was among the youngest contestants. In 2004, he participated in Roadies, where he emerged a winner in Roadies 2 at 20 years of age. As soon as he completed his graduation & post-graduation in the field of Journalism, he started out a job at BIG FM as radio jockey in Delhi. H also hosted the show Main Tera Ayushmann, Big Chai: Maan Na Maan and also for the same had won in 2007, the ‘Young Achievers Award’. He is also credited with being the youngest Bharat Nirman Award recipient. He then moved from radio to do MTV video jockey with Voice of Youngistaan, ‘Pepsi MTV Wassup’, a show providing useful information for the youth.
He also takes part in concerts across the country to meet the demands of his huge fan following. Ayushmann Khurrana concert in Bangalore is to be held on 30th June, 2018.
