The changing seasons give us an opportunity to experience the vibrant life of a place. The hills during winters and beaches during the hot summers, but are you someone who enjoys the fresh smell and greenery of the monsoon?

Nature is in its full bloom during monsoon giving tourists and travel enthusiasts a chance to experience wildlife in its flamboyant form. And this year, you don’t have to travel far or spend too much to give yourself a rejuvenating and fun holiday.

Goa can be your destination! Yes, you read that right. Goa!

Here are a list of places that’s affordable and a lot of fun!

  • Wildlife Sanctuaries

With about 6 wildlife sanctuaries in Goa, you’ll be surprised to learn that Goa is not just a place for beaches and parties. Exploring the wildlife here is one of the best monsoon activities in Goa. Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary are to name a few. You can go on an elephant ride, trek through the forests and if you are lucky, get a glimpse of rare birds as well. You can also visit the spice plantations.

  • Waterfalls

You can also drive up to view the breath-taking waterfalls at Dudhsagar, Arvalem, and Kuskem. As we know, the beaches might not be the ideal place to visit in the monsoon. Can you find a place better than the waterfalls during this season? Well, I’ll leave it to you.

  • Water sports

Along with relaxing in the lap of Mother Nature, you also have opportunities to tease the adventurous side of you. Apart from trekking, white water rafting in Goa on the river Mhadei or Mandovi is open exclusively from July to mid- October (with terms and conditions, ofcourse, which is adequate water currents and your safety).

If this doesn’t tickle the adventure bone in you, then there are treks you can go to where you will have to walk through the jungle paths and roads less taken and camp for a night under the waterfalls or just head back before nightfall.

You can contact various trip advisors and trek organizers for more information.

  • Resorts

If you are looking to relax your body and are trying to sail your way through the days feeling calm and pleasant, there are a list of fabulous resorts and spa in Goa. Needless to mention the luxurious experience at 5 star hotels and indoor activities for friends and family. And the best part? It’s so much cheaper. So that dress you wanted to pick up which was a little over your budget, you’ve got that covered!

  • Festivities

Monsoon brings in the joy of many festivals for the locals such as the Fertility Fest of Sao Joao, and Festival of St Peter where you can witness erected floating stages in the rivers with various cultural programs. Or you can be a part of the Bonderam Festival, which begins with a parade with vibrant coloured flags.

Food being something that can unite a lot of people, Goan Cuisine will make you feel blessed for having decided to take a break.

Flavourful dishes, surrounded by friends and family under a canopy of lush greenery, I cannot imagine a better vacation. So, for all who find themselves stuck in a gloomy mood after days of rains in your city, pack up and get going!
